Seven Rules for Social Networking for Profit

Social Networking Sites like Facebook, MySpace and all the others are virtual goldmines for finding fresh and eager prospects for your business. Unfortunately right now they have become one big advertising platform for every Jack and Jill wanting to find and recruit new people.

But there are rules to follow if you want to be successful on these sites. If you come across as a salesperson ready to pounce once you engage someone in conversation, they will run from you and take you off their friends list so fast you won’t even see your own head spin.

Think of it as something close to a cocktail party. There’s nothing that irritates more people than standing around socializing when someone approaches them with a “used car salesman’s” attitude and immediately begin their sales pitch. Talk about clearing a room fast and ending the party early!

Here are seven rules to follow when using Social Networking to build your business:

1. Never, ever send a “sales letter” broadcast to your friends list.
2. When you just begin communicating with one of your new friends don’t start the conversation with, “Hey, are you looking for a home business?”
3. Do not send them messages daily unless they approach you first, then you can keep the conversation going.
4. Make sure your page doesn’t look like one big sales page.
5. Find a “Social Networking” system to teach you exactly what to do.
6. Be casual and come across as relaxed, without a care in the world. You’re going to be their “mentor” eventually so they will want to have a mind picture of you relaxing on a beach, by your pool or sitting somewhere working from home on your laptop.
7. Don’t lie to them about being something you’re not. You’ll be found out and lose a good potential business partner.

In our economy today most people are not making enough to live comfortably. Some are but they are not among the multi-millions of average people who are waiting for someone like you to come along and help them find a way out of the hole they’ve found themselves in.

No matter what, do not “fluff” about how much money they can make. Keep it in a range people can believe. For most folks these days an extra $500 or $1000 per month could change their lives. If they’re potential “superstars” they will stick their heads up above the rest and obviously do much better than the average person.

Good luck, find a good Social Networking system to use and get out there and make some magic.
