Get This Gas Mileage Calculator and Find Out How Much You Spend on Gas

Is it really being a tight wad or do we really need to watch how much gas our cars consume? The truth is that this is becoming an issue for more and more people, especially for people that don’t make a lot of money and who fight to just make ends meet. Gas and its “cost” seems to be on our minds a lot lately. That could be because the cost seems to be eating into our grocery money. Ok, so to do this and get it right, and use the gas mileage calculator correctly, you need to fill up your tank. The next time you head over to the gas station and fill up your tank jot down your odometer reading. If you can then set your car trip meter to zero, so you get a better reading.

Then drive your car as you normally do, but when it gets to about half full then fill the tank as much as you can again and take your odometers reading or write down your trip meter number and reset it again. You also want to write down the number of gallons that you were able to fit in your car. You want the exact amount you put in, or as exact as you can get it, otherwise the gas mileage calculator doesn’t work.

1. Subtract the first odometer reading from the second one and see how much you drove between filling it up again. So if your second odometer reading was 38, 300 and your first odometer reading was 38,175, you do: 38,300 - 38,175 = 125 miles. So you drove 125 miles before filling up.
2. Take the miles you drove and divide it by the number of gallons it took you to fill up the second time. So if you put 5.75 gallons, you would divide 125 by 5.75 which would equal 21.7 mpg

Once you know how many miles your car actually drives per gallon, then you are ready to find some good gas saving tips which will give you more miles to the gallon. Maybe that way you can afford to go on vacation next year.
