Document Freeze Drying - The Effectiveness Of Document Freeze Drying
The basic reason of document freeze drying is to make sure that the document, which has already come in contact with water, can be retrieved back to its original form and shape. The reason could be plain and simple, and could be stated as; documents are important contents having important information within them. Some of these information could be the of the current time and some are of the early days, but in each case, the amount of effort that had been put into the formulation of the document, is the one that counts as much as its importance.
Document freeze drying is a measure that has been taken up, to deal with critical situations that a document might be undergoing. The basic purpose of document freeze drying is to freeze the document as much as possible so that it can be dried easily; it also helps us to retain the original shape and structure of the document, as we would have liked to have. Document freeze drying has been proved to be an effective measure in the retrieval of damaged documents, which would have been quite challenging otherwise without the help immediate freezing and drying.
However, it must be noted that this process has not always been successful; it might be the most effective measure but even it has its limitations. Papers that are made now and the ones that were made in the 1800s are of much different quality, and thus the absorption capacity varies considerably; while the newer ones take in less water, the earlier ones get drenched in no time. Similarly there are papers, which are made of different material and on being exposed to water, expand in a non-uniform manner; in such cases document freeze drying may not be the exact remedy.
It would have taken care of the freezing part, but retrieving the entire document after that would become almost impossible to do. There are several deformities observed, even after the document freeze drying method has been performed on the document, causing further trouble. The growth of molds at times leads to the bleeding of ink and may worsen the situation, as far as the document is concerned; it may become completely useless. However, these situations are not come across often and till then, document freeze drying process seems the best to start the restoration process.
After having gone through the process of document freeze drying, the documents could be considered for mold remediation and page separation methods, to deal with any form of mold growth and keeping the pages intact, respectively. Even if the document goes through the process of document freeze drying, there may be some latent moisture present within the pages that tend to stick them together. With the help of page separation technique, after the document freeze drying method, we can assure completely dry individual document pages. All the processes, including document freeze drying, may be carried out by the experts, at several service providing centers, which we can easily find out over the internet and get our jobs done.
