Wet carpets can be as a result of flood or leaking pipe. You certainly don’t have any control over occurrence of natural disaster like torrential rain and flood, but you can definitely avoid wet carpet that is caused by certain factors inside your house. There is no point in blaming the broken faucet or busted pipe if you have not taken the initiative to check for these before the water damage. This is not a one time inspection; instead the checking must be done at regular intervals. Another zone that needs to be supervised for leaks is the roof. This has to be carefully checked and in case you find something, contact a mason or an expert to seal it instantly. This might cost you, but nothing compared to the investment on replacing or restoring a wet carpet. Use only wet vacuum cleaner to dry the wet carpet and not the usual gadget that you use for cleaning the house. Operate the dry vacuum only if you know how to function it. Do not warm the room expecting the water to be evaporated from the wet carpet. If you heat the room at higher temperature, molds tend to grow rapidly in damp carpet. So, to control mildew attack, you are supposed to lower the temperature of the room and this is done by running the air conditioner at coldest temperature.
