The Rules Of SEO and Content

Back in the early days of the Internet, it was good enough to stack your copy with selected keywords in a haphazard way. As time went on, seo and seo web design became more sophisticated and the rules for web content management became more stringent. To that end, a set of ethical seo rules has emerged and become the benchmark for which all good content is measured.

The most critical element for good web content management is that all the copy be original and fresh. One of the more unethical practices was copying the existing content from a website that had an outstanding ranking. As well, some of the more underhanded elements in the web content writing world have been known to cut and paste whole articles and blogs and then pass them off as original copy. Many of the top search engines have harsh codes they enforce for those sites that are caught with plagiarized copy. These range from a lower keyword ranking to being banished altogether in some instances.

Good websites pay close attention to the size of the content as well. This is also measured in the number of words on the page for any particular site, and it is the job is the trained writer to keep the content within the stipulated framework. One good benchmark is 200/ 300 words for any homepage. Any more than that, and you risk losing the reader as studies have shown that the first page needs to grab their attention within the first five to nine seconds.

The keyword density is another important factor that you’ll need to consider. It’s important to remember that these keywords should not be repeated so many times as to stand out for what they are. They should flow and fit in seamlessly with the other areas of the content. It’s also essential that the best copy use variants of the keywords so that the content works better when it comes to rankings. This means that the skilled writer will be able to include slight variations that will still get the attention of the search engines without changing the keywords themselves in any meaningful way.

These variations become especially useful when it comes to attaching the tags that point to blogs that are often used as a compliment to the websites themselves. It goes without saying that the last aspect of good seo web design and web content management has to do with error free copy. No matter how well placed your keywords are, misspellings and grammatical errors take away from the overall impact of the content.
